Menopause

Definition:

This condition is a normal transitional phase in a woman's life, when ovarian function begins to decline and menstruation ceases. Usually referred to the "change of life", this phase of maturity should not need to pose as many problems as it commonly does in our society. Most of the symptoms associated with menopause are due to a reduction of estrogen. Estrogen is not only a sex hormone, but it effects cells in the vagina, bladder, breasts, skin, bones, arteries, liver, and brain. However, the answer in dealing with menopause is not Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) but in supplying the body with mostly herbs and soy compounds that prevent not only the symptoms of menopause, but protect the body as well without the dangerous side effects.

Symptoms:

The most common symptoms associated with menopause are; hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, fatigue, dizziness, headache, anxiety, depression, poor libido (sex drive), vaginal dryness, breast tenderness, drying of skin, bone loss.

Holistic Treatment Plan:

Menopause is not a disease, but rather a normal phase of growth. Treating the symptoms of menopause with natural remedies, is very effective without dangerous hormone replacement. Because osteoporosis is a major problem for women after menopause it's treatment will be discussed here. Many of the herbs needed to treat menopause are used for osteoporosis as well. With proper diet, nutritional supplements, and exercise, most of the unpleasant side effects can be minimized if not completely eliminated.
