Definition:
This condition is commonly known as shingles. Herpes Zoster is an acute infection
of the central nervous system, involving nerves from the spinal
cord. This is why the pain from this infection usually is centered
on the middle of the body. The same virus that causes chickenpox
is the cause of herpes zoster. Once infected with this virus it
remains dormant in the spinal cord and nerve endings for years.
The chance of an attack can be increased by many factors, including,
stress, a serious illness, and immune system deficiency. However,
any illness can trigger an attack in an otherwise healthy person.
Symptoms:
Severe pain, itching, or burning accompanied by chills fever, and achiness
are the most common symptoms. Clusters of tiny blister then follow;
the affected area then becomes extremely painful and sensitive to
the touch. Herpes zoster may last for as much as fourteen days.
The blisters finally become crusty and fall off.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
Basically treatment is the same as it was for herpes simplex, except
one important difference. Using a homeopathic product will hasten
recovery time.
