Definition:
Eczema is a very itchy, highly inflammatory disease of the skin. It is mostly
found on the face, wrist, insides of elbows, and knees. It can occur
at any age, but usually is most common in infants. Eczema is very
common affecting up to 7% of our population. Either a bacterial
infection or an allergic reaction usually causes eczema.
Symptoms:
Chronic itching associated with inflammation. Skin is dry and thickened. In
extreme cases lesions may form.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
Most cases of eczema are caused by an allergic reaction, to foods
or chemicals. The foods most likely to cause eczema are milk, wheat
or gluten grains, eggs, and citrus. In the case of this condition
being caused by infection then a natural anti-biotic or anti-fungal
applied topically will work very well. Nutritional support is essential
for both allergic and non-allergic forms of this disease.
