Definition:
Painful or difficult menses characterizes dysmenorrhea.
Symptoms:
This pain may be sharp and cramp-like, or a steady dull ache. It usually appears
24 to 48 hours before the menstrual flow. It is a very common pre-menstrual
ailment. During menses the discomfort and pain may spread to the
back and thighs.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
Proper nutritional supplementation especially providing calcium,
omega 6 fatty acids, and avoiding hydrogenated fats (like peanuts,
red meat, chips and cracker) ten days prior to menses are helpful.
