Definition:
This is a chronic, degenerative, and inflammatory disease of the liver. It
can result in hardening and scarring of liver cells. The liver becomes
unable to function properly due to the scarring. The most common
cause of cirrhosis is excessive alcohol consumption. In the past
virus infection was believed to be less of a cause. It has recently
become more frequent. With the up swing of viral hepatitis C in
our population, the number of people developing cirrhosis is rapidly
increasing.
Symptoms:
In the early stages this condition may cause constipation, diarrhea, fever,
upset stomach, weakness, poor appetite, red palms, both liver enlargement
and jaundice are the most common symptoms. If your blood tests indicate
liver problems and you have a history of excessive alcohol consumption,
or if you have been diagnosed with hepatitis C, then you been providing
the body with nutrients that can save your liver from further damage.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
Treatment consists of eliminating alcohol completely and forever.
Nutrients that will allow the liver to regenerate new healthy cells
are necessary.
