Definition:
When the body is exposed to certain foreign chemicals, it may lead to numerous
unpleasant side effects. The contaminants that are most frequently
involved include gasoline, coal and or oil fumes, chlorine, household
cleaners, perfumes, air fresheners, hair sprays, after shave products,
paints and stains, art supplies, chemicals used for developing film,
and chemicals found on out food supply.
Symptoms:
Chemical allergies often result in skin reactions, but they may also manifest
themselves as watery eyes, headache, asthma, bronchial congestion,
fatigue, brain fog, diarrhea and other intestinal disorders (especially
from chemicals used in farming), and chronic headaches.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
The only way that I have found to eliminates reactions from chemicals
is to detoxify the body, and to enhance the body=s ability to rid
itself of toxic chemicals. This includes toxins that we ourselves
produce and exogenous sources. When possible avoidance of the chemicals
is helpful. For instance use of biodegradable and non-toxic cleaners,
can be very useful. Avoiding foods sprayed with chemicals, not eating
foods that contain artificial coloring. Read all food product labels
carefully. Best rule of thumb is try to eat food as close to how
it started out. For instance using fresh food instead of commercially
prepared food helps a lot.
