Definition:
This is a general term that covers a number of diseases of the blood vessels.
We are concerned with the type that is characterized by a thickening
of the blood vessels caused by an accumulation of blood lipids.
This condition develops over a long period of time. It is preventable
and treatable by diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements.
Symptoms:
The symptoms associated with this disease are difficult to determine before
any serious problem occurs. Testing for blood levels of cholesterol,
triglycerides, and homocysteine are the best ways to predict the
condition.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
First consideration is to adjust the diet to limit the amount of
LDL cholesterol or homocysteine is produced. Other nutrients consist
of anti-oxidants, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients that
protect the blood vessels
