Definition:
This term indicates a lack of or low level of hydrochloric acid
in the stomach. There are varying degrees of this deficiency, mostly
this deficiency is related to age.
Symptoms:
The symptoms may be present most of the time, but are most frequent
shortly following meals. Heartburn, indigestion, nausea, bloating,
and gas are usually associated with this condition. . In some cases
alternating diarrhea and constipation may be present. Chronic fungal
or yeast infections that continually return are caused by insufficient
stomach acid.
Holistic Treatment Plan:
While most people take Tums or Rolaids for this problem, the solution
is to provide extra hydrochloric acid to support stomach digestion.
Stomach acid is basically involved in protein digestion. It is also
a potent anti-bacterial and fungal substance. This means that hydrochloric
acid guards against chronic yeast and bacterial infections.
