A Different Look at Seasonal Allergies
Spring has finely arrived, and for most of us it is a welcomed change from winter. For those who suffer with allergies, spring is not so welcomed. From the middle of March thru the end of October millions of people suffer from allergies to pollen Pollens are found in trees, grass, and weeds.
Over the past few years I have observed a connection between food allergies and pollen allergies. These observations have lead me to believe that most environmental allergies are due to toxic build up due to the food allergies. This build up leads to a greater load on our detoxification systems. When the body can’t detoxify fast enough toxins build up a can impair the function of any system in the body. In many people this build up of toxins affect the immune system. The increase in toxins causes the immune system over react to the pollens. People without this over-reaction do not have allergies to pollen It is this over reaction that causes the symptoms associated with pollen allergies. I believe that by isolating food allergies environmental allergies will be greatly reduced if not totally eliminated. I found that when I treated patients for food allergies their seasonal allergies either disappeared completely or became far less severe.
These patients were coming to the office to lose weight, improve cholesterol levels, heal an irritable bowel, eliminate migraines, or some other health related issue. The initial examination all of these patient showed that they were allergic to a food or foods. Most of the food allergies were either, milk, gluten, eggs, or pork. Removing these offending foods improved the original health problem.
In one case a patient came to me with elevated cholesterol levels. I took him off gluten and dairy because in-house testing indicated a sensitivity to those food groups. The patient owned a day camp and was extremely allergic to grass. At his first visit I told him that I could desensitize his allergies and that we would start in two weeks. When he returned he told me that usually this was the beginning of his allergy season, but that he was not experiencing any symptoms. He had completely removed gluten and dairy product from his diet. Over the next few months his cholesterol levels improved and his allergies never appeared. Over the years I have seen this scenario repeated many times with a variety of patients. If you have been suffering from pollen allergies then I strongly recommend that you look into being tested for food allergies
